‘Aaamader kono aakarshan nei ei cinematar prati’. Ki kore thakbe?
Aakarshan, a new thriller (if we may call it) is one such film which really tests our patience as it is so less attractive in any which way!
Samadarshi plays Shayak, a young ruthless corporate executive who bags an important project superseding others at his office. That makes others jealous. Also he gets a new P.A in the form of Tora Chatterjee(Rituparna) whom everyone envies. Within a short time, they get close, have an affair and Shayak even dumps her. She even has a miscarriage due to him though he is unaware of it. Then starts the real fun! Tora tries to take revenge on Shayak with the help of Arnab (Shayak’s colleague played by Firdaus who turns out to be Tora’s mysterious friend with whom she is seen having a conversation from time to time!) and tries to destroy Shayak’s life and career, but the ending ends with a whimper!
The film is a disaster. Staring from the mismatched couple played by Samadarshi and Rituparna(she looks too for him and high time she stopped wearing short dresses unless she has a proper figure) to the story telling, everything is so bizarre.! Shayak is seen wearing something which look like earrings or maybe a clip, but which office allows that? His facial appearance is also too unkempt. He performs well, but someone else ought to be there in his place. Rajatava Dutta and Bhaskar Banerjee are good as Shayak’s colleagues.Firadaus plays the Good Samaritan in the form of Arnab, but his voice seems to be dubbed. Other than the 2nd half, equally bizarre are the sequences involving Kartick (Kharaj Mukherjee ) and Meena (Srabanti Banerjee) who suddenly become lovers after Meena repeatedly turns down his advances! The music is jarring to the ears and that includes the background score towards the end as well! The film has no continuity.
In any way! Just when you are thinking of something, something happens out of the blue for no reason!
While the posters might suggest that the film is about a femme fatale and a thriller, it is actually everything else! This Aakarshan has no aakarshan at all! Rather, stay away from it!
