PUNASCHA premieres to an inspired response
irector Souvik Mitra’s debut feature film PUNASCHA recently opened to a grand response at Priya Cinema amidst the cast and crew of the film.
Produced by Kalyan Basu, ‘Punascha’ is almost like an awakening call. It’s a closely captured story that revolves around Mohona (Roopa Ganguly) and Animesh (Soumitra Chattopadhyay). Littérateur Animesh Mukhopadhyay was invited to Delhi for receiving the Sahitya Award for his novel Shekaler Naari. Already a renowned novelist, Animesh stays with his wife Banhi in Kolkata, and their son Babu is an electrical engineer in the United States and stays there with his Bengali-American wife. Mohona is a retired professor of Visva Bharati, and stays in Kolkata since her retirement. Her husband Shishir had passed away and her daughter Parna(Sayoni Ghosh) stays in a hostel, leaving her all alone in the city. Animesh and Mohona have known each other for 40 years now but have not frequently met or conversed with each other. Animesh secretly manages to buy a 28-hour window to fulfil a wish that both Animesh and Mohona had restrained for years.
The long awaited dream finally comes true, but destiny had a different tale in store! In course of their utopian 24hours family life together, the renowned novelist dies in Mohona’s flat.
A detailed investigation follows. Shrouded by mystery and curiosity rumours are spread, fingers are pointed, questions are asked, and slowly a silent truth revealed itself.
Our little birdie spotted Sayani Ghosh, Roopa Ganguly, Debojyoti Mishra, Angana Basu, Rajat Ganguly, Debdut Ghosh and such likes at the occasion.
“This is a film about your silent wishes that has been made with a lot of care. ‘Punascha’ made me look and feel beautiful,” quipped Roopa Ganguly, while Sayani Ghosh, who played her daughter in the film added, “The name ‘Punascha’ itself was the biggest motivation. Working alongside such stalwarts has been a challenge and honour as well. This is good cinema with a refined taste.”
Tollywood Dhamaka wishes box office success to PUNASCHA.
