Madhuri Dixit promotes 'Gulaab Gang' in Kolkata
ittle Birdie, was all Gulaabi, when Madhuri Dixit Nene, came to the City of Joy to promote her recent film up for release, Gulaab Gang. That electrifying smile, that beautiful face, that oozing elegance, awed all, left people admiring her sheer presence. Along with the diva, present were Producer Anubhav Sinha and Director Soumik Sen.
Madhuri, who plays a very strong-headed Rajjo, wants all women to be self-dependent and wants women to raise their voices against the injustice today’s women face. The movie that speaks in loud volumes about the power a woman encompasses, also aims to spread the message all across the nation.
The film is not only made on a subject that is very interesting, but for the first time ever in the history of Indian Cinema, leading contemporaries from the 90's - Madhuri Dixit and Juhi Chawla, have come together on screen. This is surely a viewer’s delight!
Madhuri who loves Kolkata, says she has deep-rooted love and connection here. City of Joy was very joyous to have her, when asked how joyful she feels, she cheekily chirped, “Oh! I am feeling very nice. It is always somehow for some work or the other I have come here. And Calcutta also means a lot to me, in misti doi, sandesh, ofcourse I will talk about food, as I love food, rasogollas, the sweets and obviously the people. Throughout my career I think people have just loved me, and a lot them come from Kolkata. Whenever I visit, I feel so loved and it is really a City of Joy. And I am joyous as well to be here”.
Feeling nostalgic she added, “I remember I had done a movie called 100 Days, Partho Ghosh was my director. I learnt scatterings of Bengali from him. Taratari karo, ki korcho tumi, chalo chalo and all that. It just brings back all those memories”.
Pinning a lot of hopes on Gulaab Gang, this Women’s Day the whole team wishes that audiences like the movie and the right message is communicated to the women in India. And like they have put it, even Birdie hopes that may “this season the color of Justice be Pink”.
