Anindya Chatterjee turns director with "Open Tee Bioscope"
handrabindoo’s lead vocalist and music composer Anindya Chatterjee hits the floors and says “action” at a well known residence in Beadon Street, making his directorial debut with ‘Open Tee Bioscope’, with the experienced Shoojit Sircar alongside as the producer for his first feature film.
A man of versatile talent, Anindya Chatterjee had always wanted to step up as a main stream film director, after having driven the initial steam from his directorial ventures for several television shows prior to this.
Produced by Rising Sun Films, ‘Open Tee Bioscope’ is a film based on the boyhood of Phoara (played by Riddhi Sen), who plays the protagonist of the film. Phoara is a young boy in his teens slowly stepping towards adulthood, and it’s a story of growing up through all those first-time experiences that many of us encounter as we grow up through that phase.
The film steers through comedy, drama, and emotions of the middle class community of Kolkata, and carefully captures the essence of North Kolkata, and the quintessential spirit of North Kolkata’s para football.
Anindya Chatterjee, who is surprisingly cool, composed and sorted on the floors despite Open Tee Bioscope being his debut film, opined with a smile “I’m a very impulsive person. I’m fortunate enough to be able to do things that I like, which includes music, writing, acting and scripting. I worked for than a year and a half on visually translating the story of the film into the screenplay, and I think that phase was very important. When I approached Shoojit Sircar with my script, he showed his willingness to produce the film. Working alongside Shoojit is an added boon as I can count on useful tips from him, and I’m very optimistic and hopeful to do good work and present a good film to the audience.”
Shoojit Sircar, who has directed films like ‘Yahaan’, ‘Vicky Donor’ and ‘Madras Café’, and producing his second Bengali film after ‘Aparajita Tumi’ shared his thoughts with Tollywood Dhamaka and said “This is a film about the transition from childhood to growing up. I worked on the script and I share my film experiences with Anindya. Anindya has grown up in North Kolkata, and hence the essence of North Kolkata is in his veins, his eyes, his words, everywhere. So he’ll certainly try to capture that flavor through his film, and I believe that this film will have a lot to offer.”
The cast line up of the film includes Kaushik Sen, Paran Bandopadhyay, Rajatava Dutta, Sudipta Chakraborty, Riddhi Sen, Sohini Sarkar, Biswanath Basu and Aparajita Auddy.
Open Tee Bioscope will feature Kaushik Sen and his Son Riddhi Sen together for the first time on the big screen, and this film also marks the music directorial debut of Chandrabindoo’s Upal Sengupta.
